#ThursTag: The Nineties Movie Tag

What is up my little book nerds. Sorry I’ve been AWOL, but with everything going on my brain has just not been in a place where it could focus on anything. Also, Animal Crossing came out, and I have to appease my glorious Raccoon overlord…

Anyway, its Thursday, which means it’s TAG DAY! Time for another bookish tag, stolen (again) from the delightful human that is Steph. This week, I’m taking on the Nineties Movie Tag (most of which I watched in the 2000s when I wasn’t in primary school). Lets do this!

SHE’S ALL THAT – NAME A BOOK COUPLE THAT IS AN ODD PAIRING BUT THEY STILL FIT PERFECTLY TOGETHER

Gideon and Harrow in Gideon The Ninth aren’t exactly a couple, but they are pretty much. They obviously hate each other, but the hatred is the perfect glue to keep them together, and by the end of the book you just know that they’ve been pining for each other the entire time.

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU – A BOOK/SERIES YOU HAVE A LOVE/HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH

Andrew Caldecott’s Rotherweird series is, on paper, the perfect mix of fantasy, history, action, and intrigue. But something about it just irritates me whenever I read it. I don’t know if its the characterisation, or the multiple plot lines (which I normally don’t mind at all). I think it just feels a bit too clever for it’s own good.

CLUELESS – A CHARACTER WHO IS TOTALLY CLUELESS BUT YOU LOVE THEM ANYWAY

There are a few tat spring to mind, but I think I’ve got to go with Tao from Heartstopper. I love him to bits, but Elle was throwing out some SERIOUS hints and he just didn’t get any of them. Like, dude, come on, I’m a big ol’ homo and I could tell she was into you!

TITANIC – NAME A BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY

Every book ever. Seriously, do you not know me? I cry at EVERYTHING! If I had to go with the most recent one, it was probably Camp by LC Rosen (I got a proof and its amazing!)but I seriously cry at everything so there may have been something since then.

Also, fun fact, I’ve never seen Titanic and have no intention of watching it now. As you were.

AMERICAN PIE – A BOOK THAT MAKES YOU LAUGH

Without a doubt, it’s anything by Laura Steven. Honestly, that girl is FUNNY! You can pick any of hers, but I think Vati in The Love Hypothesis is both the most hilarious person ever and also the goal for what I want to be when I’m a grown up.

CAN’T HARDLY WAIT – A BOOK WITH A CRAZY PARTY

I mean, love him or hate him (you should hate him), Scythe Goddard threw one insane party in Scythe. Like, true insanity levels of partying.

CRUEL INTENTIONS – NAME A CHARACTER YOU CAN NEVER FULLY TRUST

Murtagh from the Inheritance Cycle. I know he had his reasons, and he tried to prove himself in the end, but I just can’t get over his betrayal at the end of Eldest, or how he let Thorn be magicked like that.

DRIVE ME CRAZY – NAME YOUR FAVOURITE “BOY NEXT DOOR” OR “GIRL NEXT DOOR” COUPLE

Nick and Charlie from Heartstopper. Could there be any other? They’re just perfect and precious and wonderful, and I love them together and how cute they are. Plus, the cute nerdy band kid getting together with the hot captain of the Rugby team? TOTAL Boy Next Door vibes right there!

SCREAM – A BOOK WITH A MEMORABLE VILLAIN

The villain I always think of is Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. I read a post about it on tuber years ago that put it into words perfectly. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is evil in the way that a lot of us will never experience, like war, but Umbridge was that personal kind of evil, the kind that we all experience in our day to day lives, be it with a horrible teacher who’d punish you for no good reason, or a boss that always seems to have it in for you. I detest Umbridge and all she stands for, and hope she’s having fun in Azkaban.

THE CRAFT – NAME A BOOK WITH WITCHES

Again, there’s plenty, but I think A Pinch of Magic is the perfect witchy book, even if the girls aren’t technically witches but just have magical objects. Does that make them witches? What actually makes a witch a witch? Aaaah philosophical questions for the ages.

So, that’s my Nineties Movie tag. What do you think? What would you have answered for these? Let me know in the comments or on twitter! ’til next time, stay at home and stay safe people!
