A -Author you’ve read the most from. Trudi Canavan. I’ve read literally everything she’s written and published, and I just love her.
B – Best sequel ever. A Girl Called Shameless – Laura Steven
C – Currently reading. I’m actually between books at the moment, but I’m either going to read Highfire by Eoin Colfer or The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bronte Mettlestone by Jaclyn Moriarty next. Or maybe Reverie by Ryan la Sala
D – Drink of choice whilst reading. Coffee. Just any type of coffee. I’ve recently gotten really into oat milk with everything as well so, like, a caramel oat milk latte or an oat milk cold brew is just *chef’s kiss*
E – E-reader or physical books. Physical books for everyday reading, but I have a kindle for when I go on holiday and don’t have the space/weight allowance for the number of books I’d read.
F – Fictional character you probably would have dated in High School. Simon, Bram (from Simon Vs the Homosapien Agenda) and I would’ve been THE gay throuple in secondary school. But I’d also date the heck out of Nick from Heartstopper and Bryson Keller from Date Me, Bryson Keller.
G – Glad you gave this book a chance. Got to be No Big Deal by Bethany Rutter.
H – Hidden gem book. One I read because I got a proof through and wasn’t expecting at all, Lie With Me by Philippe Besson. Or In Waves by A. J. Dungo.
I – Important moment in your reading life. My first book signing (Michelle Paver for the final Chronicles of Ancient Darkness book). Getting the first three Harry Potter books. Interviewing Alice Oseman for the launch of Heartstopper Volume 3.
J – Just finished. Last night, I finished Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli.
K – Kind of books you won’t read. Horror. I’m a massive wimp so I don’t mess with that.
L – Longest book you’ve ever read. I think it might be the new Sarah J Maas, House of Earth and Blood. It’s a chonk.
M – Major book hangover. UGH so the second book in Trudi Canavan’s Age of Five series. Last of the Wilds, was honestly the worst book hangover I’ve ever had. I was on holiday and I didn’t sleep for like three days cause I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
N – Number of bookcases you own. Three? There’s one in the living room, two in my room, and like four hundred floor stacks.
O – One book you’ve read multiple times. I can’t pick a single book, but I read His Dark Materials at least once every year-18 months.
P – Preferred place to read. On the sofa, or at a coffee shop. Just, anywhere where I’m cosy and comfortable and have access to coffee.
Q – Quote that inspired you / gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read. “There are good days and hard days for me – even now. Don’t let the hard days win” Sarah J Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury.
R – Reading regret. Feeling bad for not having read “the classics.” I’m not going to force myself to read them because people attach some sort of intelligence value to having read them.
S – Series you started and need to finish. I really need to finish The Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare, and then the rest of them…
T – Three of your all time favourite books. This is like asking me to pick my favourite child. UGH.
- Heartstopper Volume 2 – Alice Oseman
- Gideon The Ninth – Tamsyn Muir
- Camp – L. C. Rosen
U – Unapologetic fangirl for Alice Oseman. Like it would be anyone else.
V – Very excited for this release more than all the others. Bethany Rutter’s new book, Melt My Heart, just needs to be out NOW.
W – Worst bookish habit. Buying books when I have stacks to read, just because I finish and I’m not home. Not writing things down when I’m reading. Feeling like my Goodreads reading challenge is a competition in some way.
X – X marks the spot. Start on the top left of your bookshelf and pick the 27th book. It’s a fancy sprayed edge version of Wonder by R. J. Palacio (which I still haven’t read…)
Y – Your latest purchase. I think it was Gideon the Ninth by Tansym Muir. It’s brilliant and I need the next book RIGHT NOW.
Z – Zzzzz snatcher book (the book that kept you up way too late). The last two nights I’ve stayed up way past midnight reading. One was The Winterborne Home for Vengeance and Valour by Ally Carter, and the other was Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli. Both excellent.
So, that’s that, and boy did I have fun wracking the deep recesses of my brain for details. Are there any other tags you think I should do? Let me know in the comments, or on twitter!
